Why You Should Take A Caribbean Cruise In The Winter

There are many benefits to cruising the Caribbean in the winter.  Check out these reasons you should plan a winter Caribbean cruise today!

Less crowds

This is not generally a high season for cruising and the cruises tend to be less crowded.  Fewer crowds also extends to the ports.  During the summer you can be mobbed by people trying to sell you things and get you to take their excursions, but with less people arriving in port daily, the ports are a little calmer.

Fewer kids

There may be some areas with breaks through the winter, but expect less kids than you would on a summer cruise.  (Except maybe on Disney.  I’ve never been on a Disney cruise, but I would imagine there are kids there all the time!)

Mostly lower prices

Because it is not high season, cruises are often cheaper in the winter months.  This does depend on the week of the year, so if you are flexible with your dates check a couple of different weeks.  This is the time you can find some deals!

Holidays!

Holiday cruising can be a lot of fun.  The cruise lines will decorate and have special menu items on cruises that go over a holiday.  But if you cruise over a holiday, none of the list above applies.  Your cruise will still be crowded, average priced and have kids on it.  Seeing the ship decked out for the holidays and participating in the celebrations makes it still totally worth it!

The Best Caribbean Weather Is In Winter

The Caribbean is HOT in the summer, but it is very pleasant in the winter.  Our best experiences in the Caribbean have been in the winter, because it is still warm enough for a beach day, but not so hot that you are pouring sweat.

Break From Winter Weather

Different people have different opinions about preferred temperature (I don’t like cold), but most of us can use a break from winter occasionally.  A quick trip to the Caribbean is just the ticket for a warm-up, some sunshine and some vitamin D, before heading back to the reality of shoveling snow or just gray wet days.
