The serenity deck on the Carnival Sunshine is very unique. But in a good way.
The Serenity Decks on Carnival Cruise ships are the 21 and over space. The serenity decks include plush chairs, a bar, hot tubs, no children…and on a few ships they include a pool.
But the serenity deck on the Carnival Sunshine takes it a step further. It includes a cute little circular pool…with a waterfall.
I keep misrepresenting Serenity on the Sunshine. It’s not a deck. It has multiple decks. In the plural.
The lowest deck of Serenity, deck 11, is where you would find the pool (with the fancy waterfall). It also has a few clamshells, several rows of chairs and then a row of seating that overlooks the main deck and pool.
This deck is not serene. But it is still 21+ so you are not going to have kids splashing you in the pool.
The deck above is a small deck and has a row of comfortable chairs overlooking deck 11 and then a row of couches set back in the shade.
As a pale person I was very fond of these couches. They are comfortable and shady, but not set too far back so that they get no breeze. They were also close enough to things that it wasn’t a hike to get back to the main areas of the ship.
Up another deck is where you would find the more traditional Serenity Deck. This is rows upon rows of cushy loungers, two hot tubs and the serenity bar. It stretches all the way to the front of the ship where you can sit in the blazing sun and have a view off the front of the ship.
I couldn’t even sit there for 45 seconds because it was so hot and sunny, but the chairs up there were usually occupied because it was a great view.
But again, I burn easily.
There were plenty of other sunny seats as well. But there were also clamshells, pergolas and areas of shade. The hot tubs overlook the pools and the main deck but the areas towards the front of the ship are pretty quiet and can feel a little more peaceful. If that is what you are looking for in your serenity deck.
The Carnival Sunshine has one of my favorite serenity decks out of any Carnival Ship. The fact that it has a pool is amazing, but it is also just so big!
