The Carnival Pride is one of the ships in Carnival’s fleet that often does journey’s cruise and more unusual itineraries. It is often found sailing in the cold, which is where I found myself on a 14 day cruise to Greenland and Canada.
Along the way to Greenland and Canada, we found ourselves in days of cold and fog. I find the fog interesting for a few days. It is interesting to see when the captain blows the fog horn. Because if you didn’t know they are actually for fog. Like they blow the fog horn every two minutes when it is super foggy and we are worried there might be ships around that can’t see us.
But I also did a Panama Canal cruise on the Carnival Pride and spent many tropical hours trying to find somewhere outside, but out of the sun.

There are also plenty of days on a cruise when it is beautiful and you need the best seats outside.
These are some of the top places to sit on a cruise.
Lido – 9 Mid
I know, it’s a pool deck. But the Carnival Pride has a retractable roof to the Lido pool. On our Canada and Greenland sailing, the roof was closed basically the entire cruise. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t cold or hot in there sometimes – because it would get cold when it was cold and windy outside and steamy when it was sunny outside. But it is a pool that is inside and the deck chairs are always a good place to relax.
3 Aft Lounge
There is a set of chairs and couches in the back of the ship on level 3. The small library shelves are there and there is a non-descript bar that is open in the evenings. It may not be the most exciting place to sit, but it usually has a few seats available and is pretty chill.
2 Aft – Alchemy Area
There is an Alchemy Bar on the aft on level 2. There is a stage where there will usually be a band in the evenings.
But during the day there is no one playing and there are a lot of couches and comfortable chairs to sit in.
Plaza Café – 2 Forward
Outside of the coffee shop on 2 there is a huge seating area. There are some windows, but the chairs are mostly for chatting and looking inward. This is a great place to pause while you drink your coffee, pause coming in or out of the casino or before or after trivia in the Red Frog Pub.
Note – this area is right by the casino and can get a little smoky if you are on a cruise where there are a lot of smoking gamblers.
Sunset Garden – 3 Forward
I like to call this the secret garden because it is usually quiet. It is technically also a walk-way so there will often be crew or people walking through, but it is located on both sides of the level 3 entrance to the Taj Mahal theater. It has about 5 portholes per side with small two person tables and seats.
These are a good place to get a view of outside without having to be out in the weather. But they are close enough to the exterior walkways of 3 that if you see something outside you want to photograph you can run outside quickly to snap that photo!
Walkway seats – 3 Forward
I’m sure they technically have a name, but there are quite a few seats located towards the front of the ship on 3 forward. These are spacious couches. There is a small enough number that you won’t feel crowded by layers of people. They are also close to the exterior promenade (and smoking area on level 3). They are a great place to relax for a while, but also a good place to stop and figure out what your next move is!
Serenity – 9 Aft
The serenity deck is one of the things I love the most about the Carnival Pride. It has a whole pool and is conveniently located on the back of the ship. It’s not the biggest serenity deck because it is only the one level, but it has comfy loungers, clamshells, and quite a few couches and tables that are usually in deep shade towards the bar.
Buffet – 9 Mid-Aft
There are always plenty of people hanging out in the buffet on the Carnival Pride. It is a place where people chill to play cards, do arts and crafts, work or just sit and read a book. It never seems to be empty no matter the time of day. There are booths, tables and plenty of seats with a great sea view!
Atrium – 2 Mid
Like most Carnival ships, the Atrium area has some good seating. They have chairs and couches in addition to the bar. There are often activities that happen in the atrium so it is a good place to hang out and watch what is going on.
The only issue in my opinion is the lack of a sea view!
Couches (and tables) by the forward pool – 9 forward
These are great seating areas for when it is warm outside and you are looking for somewhere shady and by the pool. The Carnival Pride also has the largest and most centrally located smoking area I have ever seen on a ship. You can smoke by the forward pool on Lido. The main Lido pool and the serenity pool are both smoke-free environments, but if you are looking for some seating near the smoking area, there are plenty of seats around the forward pool.
The Carnival Pride is a quirky cruise ship, but it is one of my favorites. It’s broken up into many different spaces. It has tons of inside seating options for everyone. There are tons of inside seats where you can hang out if the weather outside is frightful. But there are also three pools and that means plenty of loungers, clamshells and couches where you can find seating outside.
