Does the Cheers drink package work on Carnival’s Private Island, Half Moon Cay?
No, it does not. You will have to pay full price for your drinks on Half Moon Cay. The Carnival drink package will not work for water, soft drinks or alcohol while you are onshore at Half Moon Cay.
There are multiple bars at Half Moon Cay and plenty of opportunities to get a drink. But you will have to pay full price (including taxes and a tip) if you choose to drink on shore. These bars include the pirate ship located on the beach, a bar by the island barbecue restaurant and a bar right when you get onto the island. There are also often waiters who will walk up and down the beach and take drink orders.
Because it is a private island, there are no bars that are not run by the cruise line (there is nothing on the island that is not run by Carnival).
What can you drink for free on the island?
Like what you would find on the ship, there is a drink station near the barbecue that has free water, lemonade and tea. Any other beverages have to be purchased at cruise ship prices.
In general, I would not choose the Cheers drink package on a cruise that includes Half Moon Cay because it would just be frustrating that you are on Carnival’s private island but unable to use your drink package.
