Food is not the reason you visit Carnival’s private island, Half Moon Cay. It is not a food destination. There is nothing there worth putting on Instagram, but the food is solid. Not exciting, but not bad.
Where is the food located on Half Moon Cay?
The food is all located in one place, relatively close to the town square of the island. There are plenty of signs around pointing you in the right direction, so you will have no trouble finding it.
Around the food lines there are many pavilions with picnic tables.
What types of food can you pick from at Half Moon Cay?
There are two different sides to the food. There is a BBQ side and a Burger side. Look above the food to see which line is which. The two different lines do not have the same food!
Is there a menu for Half Moon Cay?
There is a menu at the beginning of the lines so you can see what is being offered that day.
The salads and deserts are the same on both lines, it is just the hot food that is different.
The BBQ line has boneless barbecue chicken (very covered in sauce). The sides there are green beans and mac & cheese. Does Half Moon Cay have the best barbecue? No, but it’s solid. It may not be pretty, but it was basic food done well.
The Burger line has standard burgers and hot dogs. Remember, these are not the burgers you would get on the ship from Guy’s! These are basic grill burgers and hot dogs.
Personally, I recommend the BBQ line just because you can get much better burgers on board your cruise ship! And the sides of green beans and mac & cheese are good.
What is there to drink on Half Moon Cay?
After you have picked up your food, you follow the line over to the drink station where you can grab a signature carnival cup (yes, I mean the miniature colorful ones) and fill it with your choice of water, lemonade or tea.
There are also two bars near the food. There is a dedicated bar for the food, but the pirate ship bar is also not far away. Just be aware the bars can have long lines.
Will there be a line for the food?
The barbecue and burgers both can have long lines! Around lunch time the lines can get very long and you may have to walk a little ways to find an empty picnic table.
Verdict on the food on Half Moon Cay?
Don’t expect anything fancy and don’t expect a lot of choices. It’s not anything exciting, but it is pretty good.
