Best Cruise Cabin For People Who Get Sea-Sick
If you get sea-sick (or are worried about getting sea-sick), choose a room in the middle of the ship front to back and lower rather than higher. You will feel more movement on the ship if you are in the front or back (think of a see-saw). Also, I find that the halls leading to the staterooms are often where I feel the motion most, so if you have a shorter walk to your room that might help you out!
Best Cruise Cabin For People Who Need Complete Darkness To Sleep
If you need complete darkness to sleep, choose an inside cabin. They are cheaper and when you turn out the lights at night you can be sure you won’t have any idea when it’s morning!
Best Cruise Cabin For Claustrophobic People
If you don’t like enclosed areas, choose a balcony. With a balcony you can pop outside if the room starts to feel a little too small.
Best Cruise Cabin When Traveling In A Group
If you are a family group you might want / need connecting rooms, but if you are just a group of friends or an adult family try to stay on the same floor. It’s super annoying to have to go up and down stairs to get to the rest of your group, but also think about getting at least one room that is a balcony or even a suite. That way you have a larger room to gather to make your plans!
Best Cruise Cabin For The Budget Traveler
Inside cabins are the least expensive. However, if you are not on that strict of a budget there are ways to get portholes and balconies without paying the full cost. One way is to get a guaranteed stateroom. This means that you choose your room category and the cruise will inform you which room you have shortly before your sailing. Your room will be within the category you have chosen, but it could be located near the elevators or below a noisy venue. But you won’t have to pay quite as much compared to if you chose the room yourself.
Best Cruise Cabin For People Who Like To Eat
I mean, that’s everybody right? Usually the buffett and the dining rooms are in the back of the ship. So if you want to be closer to the food, choose something in the back of the ship.
Cruise Cabins with the Best Views
The aft (back) of cruise ships usually has a few staterooms. These rooms have great views when leaving ports. Plus, it doesn’t matter which side you dock on because you can see at least a little of the port from your balcony. As a bonus, you have great views of the ship’s wake whenever you’re sailing!
Best Cruise Cabin For Couples Who Sleep In / Stay Up Late
If you are one of those couples that does not keep the same sleep schedule, a balcony is the right type of cabin for you! This gives you the room to spread out and allows the early riser to get outside if needed. Also, since interior cabins have no natural light, if you are in an interior cabin the early rise has to turn on a light to be able to see. The curtains in an ocean view and balcony do allow some light into the staterooms.
Best Cruise Cabin For People Who Enjoy The Spa
Cruise lines often have Spa Staterooms. These staterooms enjoy unlimited access to the spa, plus special amenities. If you know you want to visit the spa, sauna, thermal rooms, etc. during your cruise look into the Spa Staterooms. They are often a better deal than purchasing a Spa package during your cruise, plus they often have extra small perks included!
Best Cruise Cabin For People Who Want Less Crowded Deck Space
Some – not all – cruise ships have special areas on the ship for guests who have booked into specific staterooms. These rooms often come at a premium, but having access to a premium deck area just might be worth it to you!
Top Choice For Everyone! Maybe not
I hate those posts that tell you want room you should book on a cruise ships. If everyone wanted or needed the same room, cruise lines would have adapted a long time ago to sell one type of room. If you look at older ships, they have a lot less balconies. People these days are more likely to want a balcony – but there are still people who swear by an inside room and not for financial reasons.
It’s not an easy decision. There are always multiple factors to weigh when deciding. Don’t decide based on only one.
